Glossostigma elatinoides

This plant is one of the tiniest foreground plants, and is often used to carpet the substrate in bright aquaria. It needs a lot of light; the higher the light, the more compact the growth.

Lower light levels or shady areas will just cause it to melt. Small bunches should be planted in the aquarium deeply at intervals.

Even though this is a tiny plant, Glossostigma elatinoides has the ability to form a dense carpet over the substrate of the aquarium, provided its need for light and nutrients is fulfilled.

It can be planted in craft mesh to start with so it doesn’t float around the tank. If you see that your Glossostigma is not performing as you would like, look to the lighting and check for overshadowing plants in the mid ground or background. Also, try to use this plant in a CO₂ supplemented environment.
