Short's Hedge HyssopGratiola viscidula
This plant originates from North America. It is relatively new to the hobby but is very recognisable, with its distinct thorny appearance.
It has small, narrow, light green leaves that have a spongy texture. Each stem of this plant I approximately 1–2 cm wide and it can become up to 10 cm in height.
The stem regularly branches and spreads, which can give it a very dense appearance. But with regular trimming it can be kept relatively low to give an almost carpeting effect, although it will look good in the aquarium as either a front or middle positioned plant.
Propagation is undertaken by cutting off the daughter plants and planting them directly back into the substrate.
