This is a highly desirable plant with lovely shades of green, purple, red and pink. This plants natural habitat is rivers, lakes, swamps and occasionally land.

This plant benefits from a fine, fertile substrate with nitrogen and phosphorus fertiliser. It does very well with supplemental CO2; however it will grow without CO2 injection.

Good light is the key to maintaining this wonderful mid-ground to back plant, without which it loses colour, and the leaves rot as the stems lengthen to reach for the light. Roots form on the stem nodes to absorb nutrients from the water.

Do not remove these roots as they are moving parts, bringing nutrients directly from the water to every plant part. Pruning tips encourages bushy growth.
