Moonstone is a species of succulent that is native to Mexico, where it grows on rock cliffs at an altitude of 1,200 metres (3,900 feet). It has a powdery layer to protect it from the sun.
This small to medium sized plant has loose rosettes, with tightly packed egg shaped leaves that can be a blue-green or blue-purple in colour.
In early spring it produces between 7–15, lush bell-shaped flowers, red-orange in colour on one foot long stems (30 cm).
This beautiful, impressive looking plant is a real favourite, and it is easy to see why, it truly is a heavenly sight.
