Origin
North America
This plant originates from North America, where its natural habitat is marshes and along the banks of rivers and lakes. Lobelia is one of the mainstays of the Dutch Aquarium hobby, where the small-leaved plants are used as “streets.”
The same species produces many shades of colour and form, especially when grown out of water. With brighter light, stronger plants develop. Plants with small, round, light green leaves and purple undersides grow from the withered flowers floating in water.
Planted and pruned, they will become the dwarf form that is highly prized in aquascaping. Topping and replanting the shoots will result in bushy growth in the topped plant.
