Needle LeafLudwigia arcuata

This stem plant has a natural habitat of swamps and the edges of ponds and rivers in North America. This plant grows quickly with lots of light and fertiliser.

Its narrow leaves range from dark green on top to a brownish red to dark red colour underneath, and together with the unusual leaf shape, makes this a plant for contrast and inspiration.

It should be planted in groups of approximately 6 and it has a tendency to branch so the side shoots can be cut off and replanted.

Propagation is undertaken by just cutting branches off the top of the plant and replanting them into the substrate after removing the bottom leaves to encourage root growth. It can produce beautiful yellow flowers that have 4 large petals.
