Origin
Asia
Its natural habitat is the soft, acidic, deep water of Southeast Asia. Though this plant is not delicate, Rotala wallichii does require a bright, fertile environment.
The best colour is at the tops of the plants, which can be topped and rooted in the substrate. This stem plant is best planted in dense groups and propagation is achieved by simply snipping off the stems when they are tall and planting them back into the substrate.
If Rotala wallichii grows to the surface it can grow bright purple flowers. If it is kept in the conditions it prefers it will display stunning colours such as pink over orange to deep red leaves.
