Staurogyne repens

This stem plant’s natural habitat is the Rio Cristalino river in Brazil, where it grows on or between rocks. It is a hardy creeper that is dense and bushy in appearance, with small green leaves which will result in a fresh green carpet on the bottom of the aquarium foreground.

Bunches of this plant should be planted close to each other in small groups. A CO₂ injection is recommended for this plant, but it only requires medium lighting.

It should be trimmed regularly in order to keep it close to the floor of the aquarium. Propagation is easy as all you have to do is cut off the shoots and replant them into the substrate.
