Magenta Water HedgeAlternanthera reineckii ‘Purple’

This is an aquatic plant which is very unique and beautiful. This stem plant, also known as Alternanthera reineckii lilacina, is very colourful with its dark red / purple leaves.

It looks best planted in groups as the leaves are close together and the shoots are compact and can easily grow to the water surface in an open aquarium as it grows towards the light.

It will make a great contrast to green plants within the aquarium.

Propagation is undertaken by cutting and replanting in the substrate which is best done in bunches. Good light and CO₂ will provide a colourful, healthy looking plant.
