Pearl GrassHemianthus micranthemoides

This is an aquatic plant which is very versatile. This fast growing stem plant is classed as endangered or even extinct in some American states.

Its natural habitat is wet depressions and standing water in North and South America. It is a gorgeous little plant with small, arched, light green leaves.

With strong light and fertiliser it will take off. In lower light, it tends to grow upward. In bright light, it spreads.

This plant needs to be trimmed often and replanted to produce dense growth within the aquarium. Propagation is easily undertaken by snipping off a stem from the bush and replanting it straight into the substrate.
